Tenant Tip – What costs do I need to pay when moving into a rental property?
When you have been approved to lease a rental property the agent might ask you to pay a one week holding deposit if you cannot move in straight away, this secures the property off the market for you.
When commencing the lease will be asked to pay a 4 week bond and 2 weeks rent in advance totalling 6 weeks rent up front.
You should not be asked to pay for the cost of preparing your lease documents.
Please also note the initial holding deposit should come off the 6 weeks you pay.
Keep in mind if you pay a holding deposit and decide not to take the property you will generally forfeit the holding deposit.
