Urban Land & Housing Group – Tenant Tips – Are Lawns & Gardens My Responsibility?

The lawns and garden area’s in the property you lease are always the tenants responsibility unless otherwise stated in the lease (ie a gardener might be included in your weekly rent).

There is often a lot of confusion with strata complex’s as to who is responsible for maintaining the garden area’s.

Generally the body corporate is responsible for any common area’s in the complex, these area’s include BBQ area’s, Pool area’s and any garden area’s that surround the street.

It is always a good idea to have a read of your by-laws which should be given to you at the beginning of your tenancy if you live in a complex where by-laws are applicable.

When vacating a property the lawns and gardens must always be in the same condition as when you moved in.

If you need any advice please feel free to give me a call.

Thanks Rach
