URBAN LAND & HOUSING GROUP – LANDLORD TIPS – CAN I NEGOTIATE MY MANAGEMENT FEE?

There can be a lot of confusion about management fee and what are best options and whether these fees can be negotiated.

It’s very important to have a look at the various fees and charges agents charge on top of the management fee.

Some agents can charge for things such as Postage, Paying bills on the landlords behalf, organising repairs on the landlords behalf, advertising etc.

A good option if your agent offers it is to pay a slightly higher management fee which is inclusive of all of these services as it usually works out cheaper in the long run.
For example an agency might only charge 5.5% but they will charge for many other items whereas others agencies might charge a flat 7.7% but that includes all charges as mentioned above.
You can always try to negotiate your management fee but remember the saying “You get what you pay for”.
